In my opinion, middle school students can not get rid of their responsibility for housework.
First of all, as a member of our family, we should take on chores to prove our value to others. Doing chores, especially with our parents, can give us a sense of belonging and a sense of achievement.
Secondly, because we are not babies in the cradle, we don't have the nerve to leave all the work to our parents. It's a shame to be treated as a spoiled rotten kid.
Moreover, we are supposed to enrich our experieces before we get into the society. Just studying for exam is not enough. After graduation, you'll see that students who often do chores at home are more confident as well as optimistic. They would do well in work as a consequece of their self-reliant ability.
What's more, doing chores is really the best form of exercise you can get!
