1.used to表示过去的习惯性动作，过去如此，现在不再这样了。常译作“过去常常”。后面常常接动词原形。

如：He used to play basketball when he was young. 他年轻的时候常常打篮球。

There used to be an apple tree here. 过去这儿曾经有棵苹果树。

2.be used to后面可以接do，也可以接doing/名词

be used to do表示“被用来做某事”。

如：Wood is often used to make desks and chairs. 木头常常被用来制作桌椅。
