As usual, I was busy working at the bakery on a Saturday afternoon.A lotof people rushed to do weekend shopping for supper , so they could watch the football game at once . I was preparing hundreds of bags for the coming holiday weekend when I heard a weak voice , " Excuse me . Miss . " I looked up to see an old man standing before me . He politely asked for a cake . I went to fetch the cake and placed it in a box. Three.dollars,please.I told him.The man looked disappointed and began shaking his head . He apologized , saying it was too expensive for him " Although I felt upset , I waited on the customer behind him , a woman. She asked for a lot of bread and desserts for a dinner party .After finishing her order ,she asked me to add a cake to her bill and place it in a separate box.I handed it to her. She paid , thanked me and walked away. I returned to stamping bags , but I couldnot stop thinking about the little old man.Just then, I saw the woman giving the old man his much- desfred cake . His face lit up . In return for her kindness , he reached into his pocket and gave her the only thing he had : a piece of candy
