that从句能位于介词之后吗？

怎么有的说能有的说不能呢？有特殊情况吗？
请举例说明 ，
I know nothing about my new neighbor except that he used to work with a company.
这里的介词except后不就加that了吗？

不能，定语从句中只有which才能接在介词的后面，这是一个特例，必须使用对应的单词。
看下面这两个句子：
1.I will never forget the day on which I joined the club.
on是介词，关系代词which在从句中做介词的宾语是，不能省略。
2.The room which Mr.Lee lives in is a good one.
在这里用which 和that都可以。
