新西兰位于太平洋西南部，属于大洋洲国家。

新西兰属温带海洋性气候，全年温和多雨，温差不大。新西兰平原狭小、河流短促，北岛多火山和温泉，南岛多冰河与湖泊。
新西兰国土面积约268021平方公里，海岸线长约1.5万公里。专属经济区约120万平方公里，人口约500万（2020年数据）。
新西兰的首都是惠灵顿，第一大城市是奥克兰，其他主要城市还有基督城、达尼丁、哈密亦顿、北帕默斯顿。
新西兰最长的河流是怀卡托河，最大的湖泊是陶波湖，最高的山峰是库克峰，海拔3764米。

She has no real political influence, and her position is essentially symbolic.
