这首由Richard Marx演唱的“Right Here Waiting”的确好听，无论从曲调上讲，还是从内容上看，都是一首佳作。
相恋的人远隔重洋，日复一日地思念着。起码主人公是这样的。这里首先摆出了地点和时间两个意象。地点是无限大的，时间是以日计算的。遥远的距离与每日的思念形成大与小的对比，充分表现了主人公对身在远方的恋人的焦渴的思念。他思念她都到了快要精神失常的地步。电话虽能传声，但它怎能缓解不见面的悲情？真是：电话响，声音清，此时此刻难为情。相恋不相见，怎能谈永远？
主人公的态度是值得称赞的，是很感动人的。他不管所爱之人身在何处，也不管她在干什么，他都要等待她，这个声明是需要勇气的，是可以此见其真诚的，因为这是一般恋人不愿说的：Wherever you go, whatever you do, …这Wherever you go还可以接受，而whatever you do则不然，因为它可以包含着对爱情的背叛。Wherever you go, whatever you do, I’ll be right here waiting for you. 这不是一般人能轻易说出口并愿承受的。还有，“不管怎么样，或不管我多哀伤，我就在这里等候你”。这里指，不管发生什么事，仍然可能包括对方背叛爱情。不管我多哀伤仍然可能包括因对方背叛爱情而使他不悦、悲伤，他仍然期待她回来。这就是他对爱的表白。

主人公也慢慢地发现，他怀疑他这爱情是否能成。在一段歌词中他几乎用了表明他对爱情把握不大的疑虑：他想知道如何能熬过这浪漫情，又想：但最终如果他能与她在一起，他要抓住这机遇，这里同时暗含此义：可能最终也见不到对方。他又问：难道你不懂你已使我发疯？
不管对方是不是要回来，我们已听到主人公求爱若渴、感情真挚、语言典雅的表白，听起来让人感觉舒服，为之动情，替他渴盼，盼望他爱的人回到他身边来。
这首歌最令人难忘的是这一段歌词：

这段歌词共唱了三遍，其用意是显而易见的。
真正地爱一个人可能就是这样的。两人若真相爱了，可能真的“不管你做过何事，从今以后我就爱你，你不许再做别的事。”
