This assignmentinvolves presentation of a Radio Play. Kindly take note of the following:
Working as a small group (5-7 students)
Decide on a theme for the play. You can write on any subject. Your play can be set in the past, present or future. It could be a comedy, tragedy, romance, science fiction or of any other genre.
Brainstorm, discuss and gather useful information about the topic.
Then prepare a script for the play. You can modify existing stories or scripts. Make a copy of the script so that it can be reviewed by your peers.
Since there are no props, settings, or visual cues in a radio play ,you have to try to create action & sounds effects through dialogue
Try to include at least 3 different types of oral communication in your play (conversation, discussion, argument, altercation).
Music can help to set the mood of your play. You can match music to feelings such as sad music for sad occasions, suspenseful music for a scary or worrying moments and fast music for increased action or a chase.
Make the most of sound effects which are the radio playwright’s best friend.
Create believable characters. Actors can play more than one character by changing their voices.
Use the narrator device. A narrator can lay out the scene, explain action sequences and wrap up the scene
Be precise and clear with your language because your listener cannot view a character using facial expressions, waving arms about or throwing objects etc.
Give the presentation as a group to the class (within 10-12 minutes) with each member speaking for approximately the same length of time.
Include thetheme, title,characters/role list and a short synopsis of 100 words before the script page
Attach the Marking Template completed with students’ particular (names in alphabetical order) as the last page.
