1）a lot of 与lots of均为"很多"之意，用法上没有区别，后面既可跟可数名词，也可跟
不可数名词。例如：
Uncle Wang makes a lot of different machines.
王叔叔制造很多不同的机器。（machine－－可数名词）
The African people need lots of food.
非洲人民需要大量食物。（food－－不可数名词）
2）a lot 与lots也可单独使用，这时后面不加"of＋名词"。例如：
She gave the children lots to eat.
她给了孩子们很多东西吃。
－－Did you see any cows there?
－－Yes, I saw a lot.

3）a lot 可作副词，意为：非常；相当，用来表示程度，而lots 则不能这样使用。例如：
