they
bowed

heads

marveling

their
blessings:

dark
cloud
in
my
grandparents'
life:
my
grandmother
had
breast
cancer.
The
disease
had
first
appeared
ten
years
earlier.
As
always,
Grandpa
was
with
her
every
step
of
the
way.
He
comforted
her
in
their
yellow
room,
painted
that
way
so
that
she
could
always
be
surrounded
by
sunshine,
even
when
she
was
too
sick
to
go
outside.
Now
the
cancer
was
again
attacking
her
body.
With
the
help
of
a
cane
and
my
grandfather's
steady
hand,
they
went
to
church
every
morning.
But
my
grandmother
grew
steadily
weaker
until,
finally,
she
could
not
leave
the
house
anymore.
For
a
while,
Grandpa
would
go
to
church
alone,
praying
to
God
to
watch
over
his
wife.
Then
one
day,
what
we
all
dreaded
finally
happened.
Grandma
was
gone.
"Shmily."
It
was
scrawled
in
yellow
on
the
pink
ribbons
of
my
grandmother's
funeral
bouquet.
As
the
crowd
thinned
and
the
last
mourners
turned
to
leave,
my
aunts,
uncles,
cousins
and
other
family
members
came
forward
and
gathered
around
Grandma
one
last
time.
Grandpa
stepped
up
to
my
grandmother's
casket
and,
taking
a
shaky
breath,
he
began
to
sing
to
her.
Through
his
tears
and
grief,
the

came,
a
deep
and
throaty
lullaby.

with
my

I
will

that

老爷爷一个人回了家，开始整理老奶奶的遗物，他在床下面找到了一个盒子，他打开一看，里面装的全是这么多年他写的带有那个单词的纸条。还有一封老奶奶留给他的信，上面只有六个字“亲爱的，向上看”老爷爷慢慢的抬起头，他的泪立刻流了下来，因为他发现在老奶奶住院的时候，老奶奶让人在他们的天花板上用粉色的油漆写下了这个单词。他也明白了为什么那段时间，老奶奶不让他回家……
我想这个老爷爷虽然失去了老奶奶，但他依然是幸福的，因为他拥有着那么多美好的回忆，拥有着那么刻骨铭心的感情……
