“其大意为……”只是一个例子。初始条件的极小偏差,将会引起结果的极大差异。这是最好的解释。严格论证需要很多数学知识,本科生的学习不一定会涉及到这些数学知识。
就像掷硬币,你不知道会是正面还是反面。但是按照牛顿力学,你如何掷硬币的初始状态,会决定正反面。稍微加一点点力,硬币就可能有正面变为反面,或反之。或者空气中有风,或者桌子不太平坦,弹力不太好,等等因素。
