前面说过，在叙述顺序上，汉语是先整体后局部。
英语和汉语正好相反，英语这种先局部后整体的思维方式在句子结构上的。
另一个表现是，英语倾向于把句子的主体部分先说出来，即主谓宾先说出来，然后才是其他的句子成分，等于是让大家先看到主要事件，然后再把事件发生的时间、地点、手段等等放在句子后面做个补充，最后才让大家看到全貌。
汉语恰恰相反，先把时间、地点等次要的东西说出来，让你对要描述事件的环境、条件有一个大致了解。然后再把要描述的事情说出来。
（1） You can call me any time.你可以随时打电话给我。
（2）I get hold of you at last.我终于找到你了。
（3） I saw it with my own eyes.我亲眼所见。
（4） No spitting on the street.禁止在大街上吐痰。
（5） The train arrived on time.火车准时到达。
（6） They are paid by the hour.他们按时取酬。
（7） Are you free this Saturday？你这个星期六有空吗？
（8） I lost the door key about here.我在这附近摔了门钥匙。
（9）Let' s watch TV with a candle on.咱们点上蜡烛看电视吧。
