可以表示同样的意思“不能”

但是unable的意思更加广泛，还可以表示“无能为力，残疾的”

而unable用于各种时态，can not用于现在时

cannot 可以是有能力做，但是不愿意做，不可以做。比如人家让你做犯法的事情，你有那个能力，但是应该回答：No I cannot do that.

unable是真的没有能力，做不了。本回答被提问者采纳

can not 和unable 都可以表示能力. can not 泛指一般的能力,而且只有两种形式, 即:can not, could not．unable 则主要指具体做到了某件事的能力，其形式主要是靠be 发生变化，所以形式比can not多
