Carol
Ann Duffy’s “Standing Female Nude” exposes the social injustice of gender by
depicting a female nude painted by a “genius”. By using the first person description,
the model reveals her unfavorable position comparing to the artist. With the
raising issue presenting by the model, the poem starts to challenge the
traditional perception of female and tries to bridge the gap between the model
and the artist. Nevertheless, audiences can still see the social injustice of gender
by bringing the painting disproved by the model to light at the end of the poem.
