一、用作形容词，意思是“充足的; 足够的”；在句中可作定语和表语。作定语时它的位置较灵活，既可放在所修饰的词前，也可放在所修饰的词后。例如：

二、用作副词，意思是“充分地；足够地”，修饰形容词、副词或动词，位于所修饰词的后面。例如：

We cannot leave，because we have something else to do．我们不能走，因为我们还有别的事要干。
八、something of意为“有点……，可说是一个……，在某种程度上是”。例如：
The man was something of a genius．这个人算是个天才。
She is something of a singer．她是一位相当不错的歌唱家。
九、 something like相当于一个副词，表示“有点像；大约”等意思。例如：
He is something like his brother．他有点像他哥哥。
His knowledge of English is something like as good as yours．他的英语知识跟你差不多。
