The Hubble telescope was launched into space by NASA on April 20, 1990 at a cost of over 1 billion dollars. Right from the start there was trouble with the Hubble telescope. The pictures it sent to earth were very disappointing because it’s main mirror was faulty. NASA has now fixed the telescope after they sent 4 astronauts into space to repair it.
The space shuttle Endeavour took the astronauts to the Hubble. A robot arm from the Endeavour grabbed the telescope and held it while the astronauts made the necessary repairs.
The Hubble is above the earth’s atmosphere and it is now sending us the clearest pictures of the stars and distant galaxies the people have ever seen.
The Hubble has told us a lot about the age and size of the universe. The Hubble has already sent many thousands of pictures to scientists on earth as it looks into deep space.
