追答作代词时，就是说当前文中出现过一个名词后，后面就可以用it来代替那个名词；（eg: The TV show is very funny. I like it very much.其中it作代词，指代前面出现过的TV show）
作形式主语时，即用it作形式主语后，真正的主语一般以不定式短语，动词ing形式或从句位于句末；（eg: It is interesting to play football on the playground.其中it作形式主语，to play football on the playground是真正的主语。）
作为形式宾语时，与作形式主语的用法差不多，即it作形式宾语后，真正的宾语以上面所述的几种形式位于句末。（eg: I think it interesting to play football on the playground.其中it 作形式宾语，to play football on the playground才是真正的宾语）
另外，在表示天气，日期等等时，也一般用it作主语，eg: It is sunny today/ It is sunday today.
