Broken Promises
A tiger once got caught in a trap. A pastor passed by. The tiger cried out, “Good pastor! Help me! Get me out of this cage!” But the priest refused. “I can’t let you out.” He said, “You’d eat me!”
“Oh, no!” said the tiger, “I would never do that!” So the pastor who was very kind-hearted, let him out.The tiger licked (舔) his lips. “You fool!” he said，“prepare to die!”
At that moment, a clever leopard(豹) came by. “What is the matter, good pastor?” he asked. Then the pastor told his story. The leopard shook his head. “I don’t understand,” he said. “Could you tell me once more?”
The tiger snarled. “What a fool!” So the pastor explained again. The leopard said, “Now I see. The pastor was in the cage, and…”
“No, no!” shouted the tiger, “I was in the cage.”
“I was in the cage, and—But no, it was not I! The tiger was in the cage, and…”said the leopard.
“I did it!” roared the tiger, “I am the tiger! Can’t you see that?”
“Oh, yes, brave tiger.” said the leopard.
“And it is the pastor who got me out of the cage.” said the tiger, pointing at the pastor.
“Yes!” cried the leopard. “But how did you get there?”
“How?” asked the tiger, “Like this!” and he jumped into the cage.
The leopard slammed the door. Quickly, he locked it. Then he said to the pastor. “Let us leave the tiger in peace. He can think about broken promises in that way.”

一只老虎掉进了猎人设下的陷阱。一位牧师刚好经过。老虎大声叫到:“好牧师！救救我！把我从这个笼子里救出来！”但是牧师拒绝了：“我不能放你出来。”他说，“你会吃了我！”

“不，不！”老虎大叫道，“我在笼子里！”
“我在笼子里，并且——不，不是我！老虎在笼子里面，而且…”豹子说道。
“是我做的！”老虎咆哮道，“我是老虎！你难道不明白吗？”
“哦，是的，勇敢的老虎。”豹子说道。
“是牧师把我从笼子里面救出来的。”老虎用手指着牧师。
“是的！”豹子大叫，“但是你是怎么到笼子里的？”
“怎么去的？”老虎自问，“像这样进去的！”说完它跳进了笼子。
豹子马上关上门锁起来，然后它对牧师说：“让老虎安静地呆在里面吧，只有那样，它才能好好考虑它破坏的诺言。”
